Job Overview
Komatsu is seeking an experienced Field Service Electrician to perform electrical repairs at mine sites across the Southwest. This role is primarily focused on electrical work on large mining equipment, with a strong emphasis on electric shovels, planned component replacement, and equipment maintenance.
This position is ideal for a highly skilled electrician who is comfortable working in the field, traveling extensively, and occasionally supporting mechanical tasks as part of a team environment.
Key Job Responsibilities
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair electrical systems on large mining equipment, with a strong focus on electric shovels, and occasionally drills or trucks
- Wire and connect electrical components during repairs and overhauls
- Able to diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems
- Adjust, repair or replace all defective equipment parts, components or systems serviced at customer sites
- Test repaired equipment for proper performance
- Perform planned component replacement (PCR) outages, including planned repairs and component change‑outs based on hours and maintenance schedules
- Assist with tooling and tool trailers, including setup, maintenance, and upkeep
- Support machine work related to electrical systems, including connecting tooling to generators and electrical boards
- During non‑electrical downtime, assist with mechanical work as needed (e.g., helping change motors or parts, fire watch, general support)
- Work safely and compliantly at mine sites, following all EHS and site‑specific requirements
Qualifications/Requirements
- 3-5 years of electrical experience working on shovels in the mining industry
- Strong proficiency in reading and interpreting technical schematics and manuals.
- Must have a demonstrated ability to efficiently diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair issues in mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems common to mining and/or construction equipment
- Hold a strong standard for safety and quality
