Job Overview

The Quality Control Inspector is responsible for performing inspections, checks, tests and completing applicable documentation for internally fabricated products, parts and components used in the manufacture of hard rock mining consumables, equipment and parts, in-process or finished to ensure products are being produced in accordance with company quality standards and customer requirements.  Must also maintain a safe, clean and productive work environment.

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Read blueprints and instructions to comprehend the quality expectations for incoming products and supplies.
  • Perform inspection of fabricated and machined parts, components, subassemblies or finished company products to ensure adherence to specifications.
  • Complete inspection and testing records accurately and gather data necessary to finalize and approve products for use in manufacturing processes or for preparation of customer shipment.
  • Understand and follow quality standards and processes.  Fill out NCR rejects and other documentation accurately.
  • Recommend non-conforming products for reworking or disposing. 
  • Use a variety of measurement equipment including, micrometers, thread gauges, dial bore gauges, etc.
  • Monitor and maintain critical equipment and instrumentation to ensure proper operation and calibration.
  • Participate in the construction and/or revision of SOPs for the inspection function.
  • Evaluate problems and make initial recommendations for possible corrective action to supervisors.
  • Work with production management and Quality Assurance to provide feedback to assemblers regarding accuracy of manufacturing and assembly procedures.


  • College Diploma in Machining or Tool & Die, Welder/Fitter or equivalent experience.
  • Knowledge of calibration tools within production facility.
  • Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
  • Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry and their applications in machining/fabrication.
  • Accuracy and high attention to detail.
  • Documentation and filing capabilities.
  • Good computer skills for documentation and communication purposes.
  • Ability to read blueprints, drawings, schematics.
