Job Overview

  • Reports to:           Shop Supervisor

    Location:             Elko, NV

    Sign on Bonus:   $1,500.00

    Primary focus on a safe work environment and employing safe work practices on a consistent basis.
  • Ability to identify, organizes, estimate, and recognize differences or similarities with excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to identify solutions to resolve a variety of component repair and preventative maintenance concerns.
  • Minimize rework by closely following work scopes and manufacturing operation procedures.
  • Use prescribed procedures to inspect part(s) and product(s) produced to assure compliance to specifications that will eliminate defects, scrap, rework, etc.  Ensure part(s) meet all Customer Quality requirements.
  • Interpret work orders, drawings, and blueprints.
  • Secure and fabricate necessary tools and materials following verbal or written instructions, samples or prints.
  • Ability to define problem, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Utilize measuring equipment used in the industry such as calipers, micrometers, height gauge and other measuring equipment needed to complete work.
  • Maintain a billable rate according to department and company objectives.
  • Responsibility to prevent damages due to mistakes or carelessness to equipment or materials.  
  • Prevent loss which may result from negligent inspection or testing; from spoilage or wastage of raw or in process materials.

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Ability to machine/line bore Joy Global / Komatsu parts to print and inspect.
  • Ability to draw prints of existing components.
  • Layout material for manufacturing and repair operations.
  • Ability to operate line bore and bore tec.
  • Proficient at Print Reading
  • Knowledge of OEM drawings.
  • Read and understand prints (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)).
  • Ability to operate cutting torch with oxy-acetylene and/or oxy-propylene.
  • Knowledge of CNC equipment capability and daily maintenance 
  • Experience with manual and CNC machining equipment 
  • Computer skills (CNC Machinist) 
  • Operate both vertical mills and horizontal mill and VTL 
  • Perform threading of all types 
  • Set up manual and CNC equipment
  • Operate lathes and drill presses 
  • Ability to read and edit program with G&M codes
  • Machining of parts on manual and CNC Machines to provide specifications or prints 
  • Perform threading of all types
  • Operating overhead crane and rigging

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Minimum of 10 years machining and line boring experience. 
  • Advanced understanding of component structural integrity and metallurgy.
  • Strong leadership skills and able to communicate with subordinates, managers, and customers.
  • Procurement and maintenance of required laser equipment to support teams needs
  • Detect and report defective equipment, materials and/or faulty operations to supervisor.
  • Basic understanding of laser alignment 
  • Acquire and maintain all documentation to go onsite with our customers to perform precision laser alignment in the field.
  • Advanced knowledge of OEM drawings and MOPs.
  • Toshiba CNC Floor Mill Machinist 
  • Use of advanced trades’ mathematics, together with the use of complicated drawings, specifications, charts, tables, handbook formulas, all varieties of precision measuring instruments.
