Job Overview

Komatsu is seeking an analytical Inventory Planner to support one of the largest mining equipment operations in North America at either our Elko, NV or Salt Lake City, UT facilities. This onsite role is responsible for ensuring the right parts are available at the right location and the right time to support customer equipment uptime and operational success.

The ideal candidate is a highly analytical, self-motivated professional who enjoys working with data, solving operational challenges, and driving business results. In this role you will combine strong forecasting and planning experience with excellent communication skills and a passion for continuous improvement. By navigating large datasets, collaborating across functions, this individual willl be proactively identifying solutions before problems arise.

The Inventory Planner will manage inventory strategies across a broad portfolio of mining equipment parts while collaborating closely with operations, parts leadership, account managers, warehouse teams, and executive leadership. This role is ideal for a data-driven professional who enjoys solving complex supply chain challenges and influencing business decisions through forecasting and analytics

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and execute inventory plans for mining equipment product lines.
  • Manage thousands of unique parts/materials across assigned product categories. 
  • Maintain regional inventory forecasts and demand plans
  • Analyze large datasets to identify trends, forecast future demand, and optimize inventory levels.
  • Collaborate with operations, rebuild teams, commercial teams, warehouse personnel, and leadership to align inventory strategies with customer demand.
  • Monitor inventory performance and make recommendations to improve stocking strategies and customer service levels.
  • Utilize ERP systems to manage planning activities, purchasing requirements, and replenishment processes.
  • Partner with business analytics teams to develop and validate inventory and forecasting reports.
  • Contribute to lifecycle demand planning, rebuild planning, major component planning, new product introductions, and other strategic inventory initiatives.
  • Develop and execute inventory planning strategies that maximize customer service, inventory availability, and working capital performance by balancing service requirements with inventory investment across SAP, S/4HANA, CTS, CDK, and regional distribution operations.
  • Leverage historical demand, fleet population, customer projects, equipment utilization, lead times, and predictive analytics to develop inventory stocking strategies that improve inventory health, fill rate, and operational performance.
  • Support enterprise planning initiatives including: Inventory Planning, Component Exchange Program (CEP), Major Component Planning, Used Equipment, Strategic Projects
  • Utilize advanced analytics, Power BI, Palantir, and the Supply Chain Control Tower to identify inventory risks, optimize planning decisions, improve reporting visibility, and drive continuous improvement initiatives supporting enterprise planning objectives.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert supporting inventory planning within SAP S/4HANA, CDK, CTS, Planning Model, and the Supply Chain Control Tower.
  • Support standardization of enterprise planning processes, planning governance, master data integrity, and inventory planning methodologies across Komatsu North America.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Able to work onsite in either Elko, NV or Salt Lake City, UT
  • Four-year degree in Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain, Business Administration, Materials Management, Inventory Control, or Purchasing is preferred.
  • 5–10 years of experience in inventory planning, supply chain planning, materials management, manufacturing, distribution, or enterprise planning environments with demonstrated experience utilizing ERP planning systems, analytics platforms, and business intelligence tools.
  • Strong analytical skills, along with excellent interpersonal communication and organization skills are required
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications is required
  • Working knowledge of CDK/SAP and Warehouse Management is preferred
  • APICS Certification is a plus

 

Hiring Range 

At Komatsu, your base pay is one part of your total compensation package. This role pays $78,500.00 - 98,100.00. The actual offer will consider a wide range of factors, including experience and location.
