Job Overview

The HR Generalist (HRG) under the direction of the Senior HR Manager provides HR services to salaried employees and/or hourly employees in the U.S. Distribution Group (Mining and Company Owned Stores).  The role will provide a wide range of corporate human resource generalist activities including HRIS data maintenance, recruitment and talent management, performance management, employee development and training, policy development and administration, time and attendance payroll support, benefits and rewards program administration and general employee and management relations.  This position will also assist with HR project management in support of enhancing business results and driving performance. 

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Serves as first point of contact for employees to answer routine questions and provides guidance on basic human resource policies and procedures. Escalates issues to the HR Manager as appropriate.
  • Writes, revises, edits and proofreads company policies and procedures and related documents as needed. Ensures policies and procedures comply with changing laws and regulations and meets organizations objectives.
  • Works with hiring managers to develop and update job descriptions.
  • Leads the creation of recruiting and interviewing plans for each open position identifying effective sources. Efficiently and effectively assist in filling open positions in collaboration with hiring managers.
  • Conducts new employee orientations to ensure employees gain an understanding of benefits. Counsels employees (and potential employees/applicants) on plan provisions so that individuals can make informed decisions on benefits.
  • Maintains employee data within Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS).
  • Coordinates applicable employee policy payments through finance/payroll including PPE reimbursement, Health and Wellness reimbursement, employee referral program payments, education tuition reimbursements.
  • Maintains applicable HR records including employment/recruitment applications/resumes, worker’s compensation records, benefits records, pension records, etc.
  • Completes required HR Reporting
  • Support and drive safety initiatives and culture
  • Drive Performance and Merit Review processes
  • Actively recruit from Technical Colleges, Engineering schools/programs and high schools.  Utilize local programs, government programs, and Komatsu sponsored initiatives
  • Facilitation and support of accelerated technical training
  • Coordinate alignment of policies throughout the US Distribution Group in support of One Komatsu initiatives
  • Electronic filing and storage of HR documentation

Qualifications/Requirements

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Human Resources; combination of education and experience will be considered

Experience:

  • 3-5 years of progressive experience in Human Resources
  • Strong interpersonal skills both oral and written
  • Self-starter with ability to work independently
  • Capable of carrying projects through to completion and multitasking 
  • Strong business/operations acumen with focus on innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Working knowledge of all functional HR areas including employee relations, FML, ADA, employment law, recruiting, performance management, training, compensation, benefits and development
  • Excellent computer skills required including Microsoft Office, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • SPHR or PHR professional certification a plus
  • Experience working in Manufacturing and/or Distribution a plus
