Job Overview

As an Electrician at Komatsu, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the optimal performance of electrical systems within industrial settings. Located in Elko, NV, you will be a key member of the Parts and Service division at Joy Global Surface Mining. Your expertise will not only help in the installation and maintenance of complex electrical systems but will also involve collaborating with a diverse team to solve technical challenges. Key Job Responsibilities

  • Take responsibility for preventing damages due to mistakes or carelessness to equipment or materials, ensuring the utmost safety standards are adhered to.
  • Supervise the build or relocation of machines and manage upgrades effectively while coordinating with other team members.
  • Resolve problems by making decisive conclusions based on constraints that may present during operations.
  • Maintain equipment and the work area on a daily basis, ensuring that everything is kept clean and organized to promote a safe working environment.
  • Develop and nurture constructive working relationships with colleagues, fostering a collaborative team atmosphere.
  • Identify and implement opportunities for process improvement and increased efficiency in work practices.
  • Minimize rework by diligently following predefined work scopes and manufacturing operation procedures.
  • Learn about new technology as it relates to evolving technology products, contributing to continual professional development.
  • Perform other duties as assigned that relate to the company's operational needs.
  • Utilize advanced trades mathematics along with precision measuring instruments, complicated drawings, specifications, charts, and tables for project execution.
  • Read and interpret blueprints and electrical code specifications to determine layouts for industrial electrical equipment installations.
  • Conduct wiring and repairs for electrical systems based on detailed electrical drawings.
  • Test electrical and electronic components for continuity, current, voltage, and resistance, ensuring functions meet safety criteria.
  • Maintain, repair, test and install AC & DC electrical motors, generators, alternators, industrial storage batteries and hydraulic/pneumatic control systems.
  • Install, maintain, and repair various industrial electrical and electronic control systems and related devices.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Must have equivalent qualifications to completion of an accredited apprenticeship in a recognized trade, craft, or occupation; or possess an equivalent to one year of technical college education.
  • Associates degree (AAS) with over 2 years of experience in motor controls, circuit installations, and the ability to read and understand schematics, including knowledge of PLCs and digital drives for effective troubleshooting tasks.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to apply critical thinking to diagnose and remedy electrical issues promptly.
  • Proficient understanding of safety protocols and regulations related to electrical work to ensure compliance and avert hazards.
  • Excellent communication skills to facilitate collaboration within a multidisciplinary team environment.

Additional Information

This position requires a valid driver's license, and an ability to work flexible hours as needed. Additional training opportunities will be provided to enhance your skills in new technologies related to our industry.
