Komatsu has an opportunity for an Electrical Engineer to join our Engineering team based in Moss Vale.

In this role, you will play a key part in the design and delivery of safe, reliable electrical systems for Komatsu’s underground coal mining equipment, while providing hands-on technical support across the product lifecycle.

This position offers exposure to high-voltage, flameproof and intrinsically safe equipment, along with the opportunity to work closely with manufacturing, field teams, and global engineering counterparts.

Key Job Responsibilities

• Development of electrical designs and engineering documentation, including schematics, cabling schedules, single line diagrams, protection drawings and technical specifications
• Providing technical support and engineering liaison to manufacturing, including assessment of parts deviations and drawing revisions to support efficient production across the Australian region
• Supporting field trials related to product development, performance evaluation and failure analysis
• Investigating technical issues and delivering practical engineering solutions to support customers and the broader business
• Collaborating with global engineering teams on product development initiatives and analysis of product issues within the Australian region

Skills and attributes required

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering (or equivalent discipline)
• Strong interest in control systems and industrial communications
• Understanding of closed-loop control systems and control theory (classical and/or modern), desirable
• Knowledge of mining equipment and mining industry applications, desirable
• Experience using computer-aided design (CAD) tools
• Experience using SAP database system for parts and bill of materials, desirable
• Exposure to Lean Engineering principles, desirable
• Experience contributing to change management initiatives, desirable
• Demonstrated experience working in cross-functional engineering teams, highly regarded
• Project management certification or demonstrated experience, desirable
• Membership of any engineering societies (e.g. Engineers Australia), desirable
