Job Overview

We are looking for a detail-oriented Electric Motor Winder (EMW) to join our Phoenix dealer team!

This technician will specialize in winding and rebuilding electric motor components used in heavy equipment, including electrical shovels and trucks. The role involves hands-on work with rotors, armatures, stators, and blowers, as well as inspection, teardown of electrical components, and quoting.

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Assemble and test electric motor and generator stators, and armatures
  • Inspect motor cores for defects and align laminations using basic hand tools.
  • Remove burrs from core slots using files and scrapers.
  • Install sheet insulation and insert coils into motor slots.
  • Cut, strip, bend, and connect wire leads at coil ends.
  • Shape coils and end windings using appropriate tools.
  • Perform electrical tests for clearance, grounding, and short circuits using gauges and diagnostic equipment.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required
  • Associate Degree in Diesel Technology or equivalent preferred
  • Minimum of 2 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

  • Certified to operate a forklift and/or manlift.
  • May be required to complete a DOT physical.
  • Required to complete MSHA certification.
  • May be required to complete respirator certification.

Tooling

  • Must have a basic set of mechanics tools that meet minimum requirements as defined on Komatsu Equipment Company technician tool list

Policies and Procedures

  • Abide by all Company policies and procedures

Work Environment

  • Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and toxic or caustic chemicals.
  • Frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles and outside weather conditions.
  • Occasionally exposed to extreme heat; risk of electrical shock and vibration.
  • Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

 

Hiring Range 

At Komatsu, your base pay is one part of your total compensation package. This role pays $na. The actual offer will consider a wide range of factors, including experience and location.
