  • Competitive wages: base pay is $73,000- $91,000/year. Base salary will depend on skills and qualifications. Discussion regarding full compensation package conducted upon initial pre-screen.

Job Overview

 

Be part of something BIG- come join our Edmonton EHS team and help support our strong safety culture across Canada! If you are a seasoned Health and Safety professional, are comfortable traveling for up to 2 weeks at a time and have experience in mining, construction or another industrial sector, we want to hear from you

 

Reports to: Senior EHS Manager, Canada
Shift:  Monday-Friday- 50% in field/travel, 50% in office
Safety Sensitive: Yes- drug & alcohol testing, physical demand fit testing, RCMP criminal record check and submission of 5-year provincial driving record will be required
Travel: Up to 50% across project sites in Canada
Relocation: This position does not offer relocation

Key Job Responsibilities

 

  • Develop and implement safety policies and programs while driving continuous improvement in safety practices
  • Conduct risk assessments, hazard analyses, and safety audits to proactively mitigate risks and promote use of Komatsu’s safety tools
  • Complete customer required EHS plans, maintain customer databases, and monitor contractor safety performance
  • Manage training requirements and deliver safety training sessions, including new employee orientations 
  • Coordinate drug and alcohol tests when required
  • Lead incident investigations using root/multiple cause analysis to establish preventive and corrective measures
  • Track and maintain incident records, prepare regular safety reports, analyze data to identify trends for risk mitigation, and conduct presentations for business areas
  • Ensure compliance with local, federal, and provincial EHS regulations and stay informed of changes to incorporate into policies, procedures and practices
  • Oversee environmental compliance initiatives, such as spill response, waste management, and environmental stewardship programs
  • Support Komatsu’s sustainability objectives through initiatives aimed at reducing energy consumption, waste, and emissions, and conduct periodic environmental audits
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to foster a culture of safety 

Qualifications/Requirements

 

  • NCSO, CSO or similar designation required. Individuals holding a valid Journeyperson certificate and willing to work towards an NCSO designation may also be considered.
  • Occupational Health and Safety Certificate required
  • 3+ years of experience in an EHS role within the mining, construction, or industrial sectors
  • Able to access any customer site without restriction
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Extensive knowledge of OH&S regulations, environmental laws, mining & industrial safety standards
  • Excellent communication, training, and presentation skills, with the ability to engage people at all levels
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities
  • Proactive approach to safety and desire to support a strong safety culture
  • Proficiency in conducting risk assessments, incident investigations, and hazard analysis.
  • Project management skills/experience is an asset
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams)
