Position Summary
The Fabricator is responsible for manufacturing, assembling, fitting, and repairing metal components and structures according to engineering drawings, specifications, and quality standards. This position utilizes a variety of fabrication equipment, hand tools, and welding processes to produce safe, high-quality products while meeting production schedules and company objectives.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, work orders, and specifications.
- Measure, mark, cut, shape, and assemble metal materials using fabrication equipment and hand tools.
- Operate machinery such as saws, presses, grinders, drills, shears, ironworkers, and other fabrication equipment.
- Perform fitting, layout, and assembly of fabricated components.
- Weld and tack components as required using approved welding procedures.
- Inspect completed work to ensure compliance with quality standards and specifications.
- Use precision measuring instruments including tape measures, calipers, squares, and micrometers.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with company safety policies.
- Identify and report equipment issues, material shortages, and quality concerns.
- Work collaboratively with supervisors, welders, engineers, and other production personnel to meet production goals.
- Follow all safety regulations, environmental requirements, and company policies.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, delivery, and cost reduction.
- Assist with other production and fabrication tasks as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Previous fabrication, manufacturing, or metalworking experience preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
- Basic mathematical skills including measurements, fractions, and geometry.
- Knowledge of fabrication processes and shop practices.
- Ability to safely operate fabrication equipment and tools.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Technical or vocational training in fabrication, welding, or metalworking.
- Experience with welding processes such as MIG, TIG, or FCAW.
- Forklift and overhead crane experience.
- Experience working in a heavy manufacturing environment.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Frequently lift, push, pull, and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, climb, and reach throughout the workday.
- Ability to work in varying temperatures and industrial environments.
- Manual dexterity sufficient to operate tools, equipment, and machinery.
- Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
Work Environment
- Manufacturing and fabrication shop environment.
- Exposure to noise, dust, fumes, moving machinery, and varying temperatures.
- Required use of appropriate PPE including safety glasses, steel-toed footwear, hearing protection, gloves, and other protective equipment as required.

Hiring Range
At Komatsu, your base pay is one part of your total compensation package. This role pays $29.79 - 32.83. The actual offer will consider a wide range of factors, including experience and location.
