Job Overview

The District Manager is directly responsible for the whole goods sale of Komatsu product to thedistributor network. The DM manages specific territory of distribution in all aspects regardingmanufacturer support. Responsible for market share growth, business planning, forecasting andsales execution. Other business practices include project-based initiatives and both retail &wholesale program advancement. Main objective is to provide distribution and end-use customerswith the equipment and technology required for their respective businesses, while focusing ongrowth and profitability for all stakeholders.

Key Job Responsibilities

  • The DM is responsible for one to five distributors in a geographic area covering multiple states.
  • Responsible for the continued growth and development of construction, mining and national orregional account customers, building strong relationships for achievement of increased sales andprofitability.
  • Required to manage budget of support funds and special program dollars to execute sales toend-use customers.
  • Assists the distributor in navigating all Komatsu departments for support and general information.This dynamic role extends beyond singular responsibilities.
  • Fulfill requests for product and application knowledge to support segment sales.
  • Promote all initiatives of the company regarding aftermarket, finance, technology, and digitalproduct offerings.
  • Serve as consultant to both internal and external stakeholders for market awareness, industrytrends, and best practices sharing.
  • Manages monthly travel expenses derived from supporting customers and distributors.
  • Must be able to apply the Komatsu Way principles where applicable in their everyday workactivities.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Four-year college degree, preferably in Business or Marketing. Advanced formal education andmechanical/technical aptitude preferred.
  • Construction industry work experience, preferably with a full-line manufacturer or distributor.Minimum of 6-8 years of experience.
  • Management skills acquired through college education and/or work experience.
  • Proven ability in marketing concepts and techniques: SWOT analysis, "4 P’s”, sales processmanagement, marketing program development, etc.
  • Analytical/statistical capacity for reviewing sales trends and inventory performance.
  • Basic financial analysis to understand ratios, ROI, P&L statements, etc.
  • Negotiating skills, typically acquired through seminars and/or work experience.
  • Computer skills including Microsoft Office, Power BI, SAP, Salesforce, etc.
  • Komatsu product knowledge on machine configurations and applications, acquired throughinternal training and/or work experience.
  • Basic knowledge of mine operations, as well as understanding of field application engineering,with the ability to assimilate and utilize technical product knowledge.
  • Must be willing to travel overnight up to 70% of the time. Some weekend travel required.

Additional Information

Participation in company sponsored show is required on an as needed basis.  Examples of such shows are: Chattanooga Field Days and Con-Expo.  This participation in such shows includes, but is not limited to: Answering questions regarding KAC product, operational procedures of KAC machines, show preparation and clean-up.
