Job Overview
As part of Komatsu’s North American Customer Solutions team under the Digital Office business unit, the Digital Region Manager will have responsibilities to drive the commercialization and customer adoption of jobsite enhancing solutions which complement Komatsu’s core machine products. This position will be focused on solution sales, promotion, and customer presentations to drive market success of Komatsu’s strategic Smart Construction, intelligent machine control, and complementing My Komatsu digital initiatives.
This is a region-based position covering our Komatsu East distributor requiring travel 30-50% of the time for collaboration with end use customers, distribution, and other Komatsu teams. This position will ideally be located in the Komatsu’s company owned dealer in the east covering New Jersey, Long Island, Philadelphia, Baltimore area with the possibility to relocate in 24 to 36 months. The position reports to the Sr. Digital Region Manager.
Key Job Responsibilities
Drive adoption of My Komatsu, Smart Construction solutions, & intelligent machine control equipment to digitally transform our customer’s operations. Directly pitch strategic customer opportunities in-person and remotely to successfully sell them and demonstrate value of adopting targeted solutions: “by utilizing the digital solution in your application, you can create productivity improvements of XX%”. Be an expert in convincing customers that now is the time to invest in these latest digital solutions to advance their business through both customer specific meetings and large group/trade show event formats.
Collaborate with distribution and region teams to guide/assist their market approaches and mentor up their capabilities in effectively promoting Smart Construction solutions & intelligent machine control equipment to end users. Support joint approaches to target customers to win sales and accelerate end user adoption. Improve distribution and region teams general understanding of Smart Construction solution value and how best to introduce to customers: “look for this common pain point at the customer jobsite… then show how the solution addresses it.”
Become proficient in the use of the actual solution portfolio and capable of relating core functions to customer operations. Effectively introduce solutions with demonstrated confidence “this button does this… these are the most common uses” when providing instruction & guidance. These new users can be internal, with partners, or at customer organizations. Lay the groundwork for successful onboarding / support by collaborating teams by ensuring customer expectations are correctly aligned from the beginning. Key to market success is showing customers the best way to extract impactful value from each solution. Helping customers find the quickest path to rewarding returns is our goal.
Work in partnership and communicate extensively with diverse functions across other teams at Komatsu, distribution, and partner solution providers. These personnel are spread out regionally and represent several different functions/focuses – communicating clearly, consistently, and effectively will be needed for success. “I’m seeing an opportunity to share this customer success… this customer needs special onboarding focus in this area.” It’s a team effort requiring effective cooperation with marketing, onboarding/support, ecommerce, product management colleagues to bring value to customers and grow market adoption.
Qualifications/Requirements
Demonstrated capability selling and promoting digital solutions, software, hardware in the construction, quarry, mining industries. Convincing and creative in customer approaches to build relationships and drive adoption. University degree (B.S./B.A.) in Civil Engineering, Mining Engineer, or Land Surveying and/or extensive experience (5+ years) with digital solutions & positioning technology in the target industries of construction, quarry, mining highly preferred.
Understanding of earthmoving / construction jobsite operations, business practices, and software / technology utilization very beneficial.
Expertise with construction software (HCSS, B2W, Propeller, Autodesk, Procore) and 3D GPS machine control technology (Topcon, Trimble, Leica) valued significantly.
Strong ability to understand complex customer operations, envision opportunities & communicate new ways to overcome old problems through use of digital solutions. Excels in both internal team collaboration and individual customer-facing environments.
Hiring Range
At Komatsu, your base pay is one part of your total compensation package. This role pays $$99-$124. The actual offer will consider a wide range of factors, including experience and location.
