Job Overview

Lead and manage the finance and accounting function for Komatsu Forklift Stores.  This includes managing the day-to-day finance and accounting function including accounts receivable and accounts payable, month end close, budget and outlooks, and management support while also playing a key project management role in developing and maintaining sound policies & procedures and effective controls.  
Maintain accurate and timely financial reporting including Balance Sheet, P&L, and cash flow.  Ensure that accounting and financial reporting processes and systems meet company internal controls standards. 
Drive and outline the needs of business stakeholders and define financials reports to support the business.  Collaborate with other finance stakeholders to ensure alignment and consistency.

Komatsu Forklift Stores generates annual revenue of approximately $50M primarily from the the sale, rental and support of new and used Forklift equipment in the Atlanta, Chicago and Southern California company stores. 
Total Operating and Capacity Costs $10M for Forklift stores. 
This position is responsible for management of Komatsu (KAC) finance and controllership function and manages a staff of 5 people. Position Directly reports up through the Finance organization and has cross-functional reporting to the Forklift Leadership Team.

Key Job Responsibilities

Manage the day-to-day accounting and finance function of Komatsu Forklift Stores.  Complete all monthly, quarterly, and year-end closings, provide accurate and timely reporting of financial information to local teams, Corp. Accounting, Corp. Tax, and internal/external auditors.
Manage accounting policies and practices in accordance with USGAAP. Maintain strong internal controls and evaluates it effectiveness.  Manage, drive and work with internal and external audit. Work with IT Department on systems processes and issues.
Improve accounting and closing processes.  Current practices are manual and time consuming. Many of these can be improved by streamlined processes and technology.  Driving these improvements will free up time for more value-added analysis.
 
Prepare monthly financial reporting package for key stakeholders. Including timely and accurate reporting against budget and forecast, driving efforts to understand root causes of variances and establish recovery actions when necessary. Through the integration process, drive and outline the needs of business stakeholders and define financial reports to support and drive the business.
Collaborate with other finance stakeholders to ensure alignment and consistency.    
 
Develop, drive and manage the budget and outlook process for all respective locations and segments.  Work with leadership team to drive and achieve annual financial plan and profitability objectives. Conduct financial analysis at the highest level to interpret trends, variances from budgets and standards. Provide forward Business Plan analysis and projections.
 
Develop, mentor, and supervise the department’s staff providing goals and objectives in alignment with the company and finance / accounting vision and strategy.  Monitor staff performance providing timely and constructive feedback and evaluate department organizational effectiveness. Ensures the adequate training of departmental personnel for operating skills.  
 
In conjunction with Equipment Sales & Marketing and Product Support senior managers, manages ROIC, inventory levels to maximize cash flow, profitability and adherence to company standards.  
Manages, reviews and monitors the capital expenditure budgets and investment process.
 
Performs ad hoc requests and analysis required to achieve company goals and increase overall company profitability.  Must be able to apply the seven principles of the KOMATSU Way to their everyday work activities where applicable.

Qualifications/Requirements

1.  Bachelor’s degree in Accounting Preferred or Finance Degree; active CPA status preferred.
2.  8-10+ years experience with 3+ years management experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience 
3.  Strong analytical, quantitative, problem solving, technical, organizational, verbal and written communications, leadership and management skills.
4.  Ability to work with customers, motivate employees and work with internal departments to achieve desired results
5.  Experience managing all aspects of finance and accounting in an industrial distribution or manufacturing environment including accounting, budgeting. forecasting and analysis
6.  Knowledge of information systems deployment, utilization, and capabilities for-and-of enterprise systems management. Proficiency with Microsoft Office. Experience with Softbase a plus.
