Job Overview

An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced and motivated Technical Trainer and Assessor (Mechanical/Hydraulics) to join our team, preferably based at our Parkhurst facility in QLD or Rutherford in the Hunter Valley NSW. Reporting to the National Training Manager you will be responsible for delivering Mechanical/Hydraulics training for our Komatsu underground equipment in both Development and Longwall, to our range of customers both within Australia and overseas. To be successful in this role, you will have extensive Mechanical/Hydraulics experience on our products combined with a strong ability to be adaptable and flexible across different product streams.

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Deliver high quality training that achieves course participant evaluation results in the 80 - 100% range, and act on any areas noted for improvement.
  • Increase the range of mechanical/hydraulic training programs which can be delivered.
  • Design, upgrade or develop training materials to Komatsu's standards.
  • Maintain, improve and update skills, knowledge and experience ensuring you remain current at all times.
  • Maintain frequent and collaborative technical relationships with the technical support teams to ensure that the training delivered is current, accurate and validated.
  • Promote our technical and apprentice training to customers as high-quality OEM- programs
  • Develop programs and conduct training sessions covering specific topics on safety and Mechanical/Hydraulics aspects of Komatsu Longwall and Development equipment
  • Liaise with your manager and customers to determine specific training requirements for various skills levels of customer and internal audiences

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Relevant mechanical trade is a requirement of the position
  • TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (Desirable)
  • Experience in the development, implementation and facilitation of technically complex training material for a varied audience
  • Experience as a trainer and assessor in an underground mining environment
  • Strong interpersonal and presentation skills to effectively deliver information and interact with participants
  • Extensive previous trades and/or service experience in the underground coal sector on Komatsu equipment
  • Further studies in Mechanical/Hydraulics field would be an advantage
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to build strong internal and external relationships
  • A professional and cooperative approach to competing demands
  • Ability to manage travel and be quality-focused, flexible and adaptable
