Job Overview
As part of Komatsu’s North American SMART Construction & intelligent Machine Control marketing team, the SMART Construction Solutions Manager will have responsibilities to support the development and delivery of jobsite enhancing solutions. This position will be focused on identifying new opportunities and validating the market for an expanding portfolio of software, hardware, and services to support Komatsu’s strategic SMART Construction initiatives. The Smart Construction group is responsible for development, marketing, and delivery of a suite of innovative digital solutions to the North American construction market.
This position will have focus on growing Smart Construction Field and Office our connected app and project management software to help eliminate manual processes and keep projects on schedule and within budget. Also this role will help support Smart Construction Retrofit a dealer installed GNSS guidance system on excavators to improve grading performance.
Key Job Responsibilities
- Support the drive for continued development of core products and related jobsite enhancing technologies. This includes generating a deep understanding of the construction industry, jobsite operations, and customer opportunities.
- Promote to end users and distribution the most effective methods of adoption/use of SMART Construction solutions via application studies, jobsite training, jobsite demonstrations, and marketing material generation (print, video, web).
- Collect voice of customer regarding pain points & technology/service/support. Responsible for coordinating surveys, creating questionnaires, and hosting customer interviews to acquire this data.
- Develop/maintain competency in associated targeted software applications.
- Bring energy/ambition/innovation to the team to aggressively pursue goals, enacting real change within the Komatsu organization and at the customer job site. Creatively work with other teams/departments to overcome obstacles and maximize limited resources.
Qualifications/Requirements
- University degree (B.S./B.A.) in Engineering or Business highly preferred, and/or an extensive equivalent experience (5+yrs) in construction, quarry, or mining applications.
- Understanding of construction business operations and pain points/needs as related to their daily work.
- Previous experience as Project Manager or Project Engineer is a plus or familiarity with project management software such as Primavera P6, Procore, MS Project, etc.
- Off-highway OEM experience and/or operational knowledge of earthmoving equipment and technology (including Topcon, Trimble, Leica 3D machine control systems) is a plus but not required.
- Strong leadership skills supported by superior presentation and communication skills, including computer proficiency (MS Office, application tools as required).
- Highly organized and efficient time manager, especially relating to optimizing travel and customer/product visits.
Additional Information
This position will be based out of Chicago O'Hare, IL or Cartersville ,GA . The expected travel required is approx. 30%, (travel may include collaboration with end use customers, distribution, key technology partners, and other Komatsu employees).
