The Product Specialist will have responsibility for the marketing of construction hydraulic excavators to support product demonstrations, competitive testing and training. The position will require travel for meetings with Komatsu Divisions, vendors, regions, distributors and end use customers. Occasional overseas travel will be required to support future model development. The Product Specialist is focused on assigned model(s) sales expansion by supporting the hydraulic excavator team as required based on their manager’s guidance.
Key Job Responsibilities
The Product Specialist will monitor market trends, competitors actions and report key findings to their manager. This individual will assist in creating detailed SWOT analysis and recommend actions to improve Komatsu’s position in the marketplace.
This role will provide technical sales support to the Regional Sales team, Major Accounts and distributors through day-to-day sales and marketing activities, product training, customer visits, competitive comparisons, job studies, surveys, application recommendations and presentations to help achieve sales and profit objectives. Create, coordinate and assist in execution of new product introduction programs to include, sales material, competitive comparisons, training, and sales support. Develop and maintain highly effective sales tools that will be utilized for in-house training, distributor and customer presentations. To include brochures, specification comparison files, product bulletins, videos, trade show materials, convention support, and customer Demo Days support.
This individual will conduct machine and customer surveys as requested to determine customer needs, trends, opportunities and competitive information. Helps develop appropriate action plans based on survey results and manager direction. Coordinates preparation and maintenance of marketing and advertising material for the assigned products.
Recommends any changes, improvements, modifications, or deletions in assigned product or products, based on regular analysis of market trends and opportunities. Must have advanced Microsoft Excel skills with the ability to analyze data.
Qualifications/Requirements
- University degree (B.S./B.A.) in Engineering or Business required.
- 2-3 years experience in sales or marketing in construction/mining industry, equipment supplier or dealer.
- Comfortable in presentation and communication skills, including computer proficiency (MS Office, application tools as required).
- Organized and efficient time management required.
- Position to be based out of our Chicago North American Headquarters. Relocation may be considered for the right candidate.
- Consideration of next level role (Product Marketing Manager) may be considered only if the candidate can clearly demonstrate the appropriate level of commercial skills and related experience required for that role.
Hiring Range
At Komatsu, your base pay is one part of your total compensation package. This role pays $Min: $66,600 - Mid: $83,200. The actual offer will consider a wide range of factors, including experience and location.
