Key Job Responsibilities
Komatsu America Corp. (KAC) has a great internship opportunity for an MBA or graduate student to join our Corporate Strategy team for Summer 2026. This internship offers exposure to strategy, digital tools, and executive communications at a global leader in heavy equipment and industrial innovation. The intern will have the opportunity to develop a cross-functional network and share hands-on experiences with a dynamic cohort.
- Learning: Master Komatsu culture and business model as demonstrated by completing and presenting a professional proposal for improvement.
- Complete a Rotation to include gaining exposure to the following functions but not limited to:
- Executive Communications: Develop high-impact presentations and reports for senior leadership.
- Digital Tools Development: Support PowerApps solutions and build PowerBI dashboards to enhance decision-making.
- Analytics: Utilize Business Intelligence tools to build a comprehensive solution for monitoring the performance of digital systems, as well as understanding customer behavior.
- Project & Program Management: Assist in planning and tracking initiatives using Microsoft Planner and other collaboration tools.
- Continuous Improvement: Contribute to improving how we use data by helping keep dashboards current and assisting with checks that make reports clearer, more accurate, and more impactful for decision-making.
- Strategic Planning Support: Play a role in the long-term planning cycle by helping schedule key meetings, preparing materials, and supporting team activities that shape Komatsu’s strategic direction.
- Market Research: Benchmark Komatsu’s standing in the industry through competitive comparison. This involves subjective analysis rooted in sound judgment and logic.
Qualifications/Requirements
- Education: Must be a graduate student currently enrolled in an MBA or another Master’s program (Strategy, Analytics, Business, Engineering Management, or related fields) with good academic standing at an accredited college/university.
- Skills:
- High level written and verbal communications skills.
- Flexibility and maturity to interact effectively with executives, associates at all levels, and across cultures.
- Ability to multi-task, manage multiple deadlines and work and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong motivation to make contributions to Komatsu and strong motivation to drive results.
- Has the ability to proactively engage in collaboration and possesses intellectual curiosity.
- Should be open to learning about capital goods / heavy equipment in the construction and mining industry.
- Should have interest in consulting, with any prior exposure (classroom setting, student organization, etc.) being a plus.
- High proficiency in Microsoft Office specifically Excel, PowerPoint and other productivity tools.
- Proficiency with PowerPoint; exposure to PowerBI, PowerApps, or Microsoft Planner is a plus.
- Interest in strategy, digital transformation, or industrial innovation.
- Must demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
