The 2025 Chicago Headquarters internship program will focus on Construction Equipment Products and Solutions. Our products and solutions help construct new cities, plan for urban growth, and create a sustainable world.
We're working on exciting technologies like self-driving machines, electric equipment, and remote-control systems to make construction more efficient and environmentally friendly. Also, through our continuing pursuit of reduction of greenhouse gases and waste generated by manufacturing sites and the lessening of the burden on the environment, Komatsu innovation will contribute to the realization of a sustainable society.
Key Job Responsibilities
The Intern, Customer Solutions will have the opportunity to advance Komatsu’s customer and distributor-facing customer solutions and tools by engaging and measuring customer data. The intern will work on the team that is responsible for Komatsu’s digital product offerings, and customer support for these products. An opportunity to work with the latest technologies, including an exploration into AI to deliver data, insights, and value-added support to our customers and distributors. This role will have an opportunity to work with a variety of departments and functions, including IT, products, service, marketing, and customer support.
- Learn about the Komatsu business. Understand how we partner with our distributors and how we service our customers. Learn and engage with our systems, solutions, and industry applications.
- Learn about our proprietary technology and what we are doing to continue to be an innovative and industry leading organization.
- Collaborate with both internal and external partners such as IT, software vendors/developers, other Komatsu departments.
- Support the Customer Solutions team with project work that enhances the functionality and experience of our digital products, and the support of our digital applications.
- Develop accurate reports, data, and metrics. Understand the extent to which our systems are being used and identify opportunities for efficiency and improvement.
- Intern will be responsible for completing Customer Solutions tasks, assignments, and projects according to deadlines.
- Interns will be responsible for completing an Internship Project. Interns will own the project from beginning to end and present to Komatsu C-suite Executives and leaders at the end of the internship.
- Other duties and responsibilities as needed.
Qualifications/Requirements
- Education: Must be at least in Junior standing at an accredited college/university. Preferrable majors include: Marketing, Strategy, Data Science and/or other Business Majors. Must have a minimum GPA of 3.0+ and be able to apply their academic background to real business world experiences.
- Skills: Complex Problem-Solving: Ability to break down large, ambiguous problems into smaller, manageable parts and apply a structured, methodical approach to find solutions.
- Adaptability: Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to multi-task, manage multiple deadlines and work and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Effective Communication: Be able to communicate effectively/clearly with internal/external stakeholders at various levels.
- PC Skills: High proficiency in Microsoft Office specifically Excel (Pivot Tables), PowerPoint (slide presentations) and other analysis tools. Must demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Travel: Some travel may be required.
