Job Overview

The product manager will have responsibility for the product portfolio and associated duties related to the promotion and sales of the battery and hydraulics categories for the construction & forestry products/market.  Primary objectives and duties related to the effective management of these categories include sales growth, sales expansion, training, program development, marketing & promotion, forecasting, supplier management and accountability.

Additionally, the Lifecycle solutions team members will also take part in the development, execution, and administration of programs, products, and activities supporting the Distributor parts counter area, personnel, and managers.



Key Job Responsibilities

  • Create and communicate a vision for growth and market expansion for your responsible categories as well as annual business plan and commodity specific objectives.
  • Coordinate with field sales, suppliers, and marketing communication team to develop marketing assets and implement marketing campaigns that align with achieving the objectives outlined in business plan.
  • Conduct market research to identify areas for expansion as well as new product or program offerings.
  • Conduct regular accountability meetings with suppliers; evaluate alternate supplier offerings; partner with supplier for targeted DB sales growth opportunities for existing products.
  • Create on-demand hose fabrication program at a Komatsu owned facility to provide specific products to NA market
  • Communicate with Distributor Management as well as inside and outside sales staff to identify needs, provide training and support, and identify targeted sales opportunities.
  • Data creation support for responsible categories as it relates to Product information management system and Komatsu SBom parts books
  • Manage/administer other small categories as required, such as LED, paint, shop supplies, etc.
  • Active contributor to the Parts Counter focus project.
  • The position may require up to 50% travel for DB, supplier, customer meetings, training, and other activities


  • University degree (minimum of B.S. /B.A.) in Marketing or Business.
  • Five years’ experience in the heavy equipment industry or similar experience related to hydraulics
  • Two years’ experience as product marketing/manager
  • Highly organized and efficient time manager, proficient at responding quickly to customer issues, capable of maintaining focus on objectives while traveling approximately 50% of the time.
  • Strong presentation and communication skills in addition to proficiency in MS Office tools, especially excel
  • Ability to establish effective working relationships throughout the organization, both internally and externally, which will include interfacing with Distributor principals and other executive management and staff, vendors, etc.
  • Strong business acumen, ability to create business plans and “go to market strategy”
  • Product management experience or background with supplier negotiation required
  • Available to travel up to 50% of time
