2027 Chicago Headquarters internship program will focus on Construction Equipment Products and Solutions. Our products and solutions help construct new cities, plan for urban growth, and create a sustainable world. 

We're working on exciting technologies like self-driving machines, electric equipment, and remote- control systems to make construction more efficient and environmentally friendly. Also, through our continuing pursuit of reduction of greenhouse gases and waste generated by manufacturing sites and the lessening of the burden on the environment, Komatsu innovation will contribute to the realization of a sustainable society.

Key Job Responsibilities

Interns may support a variety of corporate business functions at Komatsu’s Chicago Headquarters, with potential opportunities in areas such as Human Resources, Corporate Strategy, Regional Relations/Sales, Digital Office (Digital/Business Analysts, Digital/Customer Solutions, Digital Marketing, Telematics), Finance/Accounting, Legal, Information Technology, Smart Construction, Marketing, Data Science, Aftermarket, and other business groups based on department needs.

  • Support assigned corporate department projects and initiatives based on business needs and intern area of interest.
  • Conduct research, analyze data, and summarize findings to help inform business decisions.
  • Assist with reports, presentations, dashboards, communications, and other project deliverables.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and build relationships with employees, leaders, and fellow interns.
  • Participate in meetings, training, networking events, and business overview sessions to gain exposure to Komatsu’s operations.
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes, share recommendations, and contribute to meaningful business outcomes.

Qualifications/Requirements

Education: Must be at least in Junior standing at an accredited college/university. 

Skills: 

  • High level written and verbal communications skills.
  • Flexibility and maturity to interact effectively with executives, associates at all levels, and across cultures.
  • Ability to multi-task, manage multiple deadlines and work and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong motivation to make contributions to Komatsu and strong motivation to drive results.
  • Has the ability to proactively engage in collaboration and possesses intellectual curiosity.
  • Should be open to learning about capital goods / heavy equipment in the construction and mining industry.
  • Should have interest in consulting, with any prior exposure (classroom setting, student organization, etc.) being a plus.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office specifically Excel, PowerPoint and other productivity tools.
  • Must demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Individuals that have an interest in working onsite in the Chicago Headquarters (Chicago O’Hare) office at least 4 days a week (4 days are highly encouraged for a productive summer).  
  • Individuals that are able to be a team player, open to learning and collaborating with all Komatsu employees.  
  • Individuals that value a productive “summer experience”.  
  • Individuals that are able to join the Komatsu team in May 2027 and commit to a minimum of 10 weeks during the summer (there is potential for interns to start December 2027 for students who are interested). Must have minimal conflicts (time off such as vacation, personal time off, etc.) during the summer. 

 

Hiring Range 

At Komatsu, your base pay is one part of your total compensation package. This role pays $$21/hr. The actual offer will consider a wide range of factors, including experience and location.
