Job Overview
Komatsu Academy is seeking a technically strong, customer-focused Learning Management System (LMS) Administrator to manage, optimize, and continuously improve our enterprise learning ecosystem. This role is critical to delivering high-quality learning experiences to employees, dealers, and partners worldwide. The ideal candidate combines strong technical capability with analytical problem-solving skills and a service-oriented mindset. They are equally comfortable identifying, troubleshooting and reporting system bugs, analyzing data trends, and supporting end users with professionalism and clarity.
The LMS Administrator reports into the Manager of Komatsu Academy and is responsible for the day-to-day administration, configuration, and technical management of the Komatsu Academy Learning Management System (LMS), ensuring system stability, security, scalability, and data integrity across the global learning ecosystem. This role directly supports enterprise learning delivery across Technical, Operator, and Sales Training for CE, Forestry, Forklift, and Global Surface Mining product lines by ensuring LMS platforms are aligned with business objectives and operational requirements. The position oversees user access, reporting, automation workflows, and system enhancements, while proactively monitoring performance and coordinating issue resolution with leadership, ICT, and vendor partners. The position partners closely with the Manager, Learning Systems and Governance; Manager, Content and Curriculum; Digital Office; IT; Global Training LMS teams; and key enterprise stakeholders to ensure overall LMS success, performance optimization, and effective enterprise-wide support.
Key Job Responsibilities
LMS Administration and Technical Management
- Administer, configure, and maintain the Komatsu Academy LMS platform.
- Manage user roles, permissions, system settings, learning paths, certifications, and automation rules.
- Monitor system performance, report and troubleshoot technical issues, and coordinate with Manager, learning systems and governance and/or appropriate ICT or vendor teams
- Test and validate system updates, new features, and enhancements prior to release. This includes supporting UAT and production testing of new features in the LMS during some off-hour times.
- Maintain system documentation, workflows, and governance standards including but not limited to standard operating procedures (SOPs), knowledge base articles, maintenance of document library and training documentation in the dealer-facing Komatsu Global Portal Komatsu Academy community site.
Data Analysis, Reporting and Critical Thinking
- Monthly user, enrollment, certification report audits to ensure system reporting properly and report any inefficiencies to appropriate channels
- Responsible for collecting, organizing, reporting and analyzing learning data to identify trends, gaps, and opportunities for improvement.
- Generate meaningful analysis of LMS performance data to identify trends, measure program effectiveness, and support informed, data-driven decision-making. Partner with management to design and enhance reporting tools and key metrics that provide clear visibility into learner engagement, progress, and achievement for both internal and external LMS stakeholders.
- Support Manager, learning systems and governance in providing the data to develop dashboards and reports for stakeholders across the business.
- Proactively identify root causes of system or user issues and implement sustainable solutions.
- Evaluate new tools, features, and process improvements with a strategic mindset.
- Ensure data accuracy, compliance, and integrity across the LMS environment.
Customer Service and Stakeholder Support
- Serve as the primary point of contact for LMS-related inquiries through the Komatsu Academy Help Desk “ASK.”
- Provide responsive, professional support to employees, dealers, instructors, and business leaders.
- Translate technical issues into clear, actionable guidance for non-technical users.
- Develop job aids, Quick Reference Guides, FAQs, and training materials to improve user adoption and support training.
- Partner with instructional designers and business units to ensure learning solutions meet operational needs.
Komatsu Academy Support
- Quarterly billing support and accounts payable for invoices to be processed
Qualifications/Requirements
Required skills
- Education required (bachelor’s degree in Learning & Development, Information Systems, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- Experience required (3+ years of experience administering an enterprise LMS)
- Travel requirements (avg. three weeks per year, with a few other 1-2 nights as needed)
- Strong working knowledge of Excel, includes, but not limited to formulas, pivot tables and V/XLook up required.
- Proficiency in reporting and data analysis (Excel, Power BI, or similar tools).
Preferred skills
- Previous experience with D2L Brightspace, SuccessFactors, or comparable relevant experience, is strongly preferred.
