Job Overview

We are currently looking to add a Senior Financial Analyst to our Calgary, Alberta team.

Reports to: Operational Controller, Finance

Shift:  5 x 2, Monday to Friday

Location:  Calgary, Alberta

Relocation: This position does not offer relocation

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Analyzing current and past financial data and performance
  • Coordinating with other members of the finance team to review financial information
  • Co-ordination with the regional finance team members to build and maintain the Budgets and quarterly outlooks for Revenue, Costs and Capital expenditures. Review bookings, sales, and margin details for accuracy.  Compare outlooks with prior actual results and plans/budgets to understand and articulate the key drivers of significant changes. Question inaccurate or unreasonable items
  • Review and adjust monthly Bookings and Backlog in co-ordination with the regional finance team
  • Reconcile assigned balance sheet accounts and obtain and maintain valid notes for the details that make up the balances
  • Ensure financial reporting controls are performed timely with proper evidence of review
  • Produce monthly reports, which include key metrics, financial results, and variance reporting
  • Identify opportunities for performance improvement across the organization
  • Provide Support for Internal and external audits
  • Financial support for the Hardrock segment of the business
  • Supervisory duties

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, Accounting Designation
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in Financial Planning & Analysis or Accounting.  Ability to prepare financial statements and explain the results.
  • SAP experience a plus
  • High level of proficiency with MS Excel.  Proficiency in MS PowerPoint and Word. 
  • Ability to work with and interpret large amounts of data, develop trend lines, and assist in formulating action plans.
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, problem solving, written and verbal communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy a must.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaborate with team members.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple time-sensitive tasks.  Committed to meeting established deliverables on time.
