We are looking for an Accounts Receivable Specialist for our Calgary office.

Reports to: Manager, Corporate Accounting

Shift: 5 x 2, Mon – Fri, 8 hours per day

Location: Calgary, Alberta

Relocation: This position does not offer relocation.

The AR Specialist will Build trusting relationships with customers, account managers, regional managers and others in order to facilitate the timely collection of open AR invoices. The successful incumbent will have the ability to develop positive working relationships with customers to achieve better collections, invoice problem resolution, and weekly report updates, conducting frequent collection calls with customers to get updated information on payments and invoice issues. The AR Specialist will also provide weekly AR customer reports to account managers and regional managers, highlighting problem invoices and identifying issues.

Responsibilities:

Daily verification of invoices generated overnight, removal of incorrect or incomplete invoices, and forwarding of verified invoices via email or postage mail to customers by noon
Process all AR payments – EFT, Wire and Cheque format - from a variety of customers. Ability to research payments and ensure cash is posted correctly to allow for more effective account management
Release credit holds for branches
Assist with credit reviews and compilation of required documents for new customer set up – including pulling credit information and financial statements
File daily payment processing, customer information updates, and credit reviews
Update invoice status in system for outstanding AR items
Complete monthly DSO report and distribute to respective regions
Complete monthly and quarterly reports as required
Complete and file assigned monthly GL account reconciliations
Other duties, as assigned

Qualifications:

Minimum Accounting Diploma or equivalent experience
Proficient in Excel and Word
3-5 years previous experience in AR preferred
Previous experience working accounting software - SAP would be an asset but not necessary
Organization, communication and time management skills - excellent customer service and telephone skills required
Willing to work in a team environment and assist other teams as necessary
