Job Overview
The mechanic will work directly under the supervision of a Leadperson and / or Supervisor in a shop or field environment.
Key Job Responsibilities
- Primary focus on a safe work environment and employing safe work practices on a consistent basis.
- Assessing equipment repair needs and repair processes.
- Equipment component rebuilds and gear box rebuilds.
- Processing parts (inspect, clean, deem reusable or scrap).
- Working in a diverse team environment.
- Assessing equipment repair needs and repair processes.
- Laying out and performing repairs with accuracy and quality without supervision.
- Troubleshooting, maintaining and performing repairs to assigned tooling.
- Ability to understand scope of job and direct multiple people in completion of job.
- Ability to read and interpret assembly and engineering prints.
- Ability to drive process and/or design improvements.
- Work with QA/QC to develop best practices.
- Able to become:
- Forklift Task Trained
- Fire Extinguisher Task Trained
- Confined Space Task Trained
- LOTO Task Trained
- Fall Protection Task Trained
- Crane Task Trained
- Certified Rigging
- MSHA Certified Underground
- General Knowledge of mining equipment.
- Use of Laser Aligner, Micrometer, Caliper and Bore Gauges without supervision.
- Advanced Print Reading.
- Moderate physical demand, continuous lifting or moving light weight to moderate weight materials and working in difficult work positions.
- Current valid Driver’s License
- Able to pass pre-employment drug screen and physical job requirements.
- Consistently promotes the Komatsu’s safety culture which includes but is not limited to:
- Understands and complies with all established Cardinal Rules. Working safely, promoting the safety of coworkers.
- Constantly looking for ways to improve and maintain a safe working environment by completing FLRA’s, Near Miss Cards and Safety Observations.
Qualifications/Requirements
- Associates Degree or Trade School Sertificate and minimum 1-3 years job specific mechanical rebuild experience.
- Application of advanced trades mathmatics.
- Ability to read and interpret complex drawings, specifications, charts, tables, and handbook formulas.
- Proficient use of precision measuring instruments: mag particle tester, micrometer, laser aligner, caliper and bore gauges with no supervision.
- Experience with troubleshooting and repairs on hydraulic and electrical components.
- Competent with welding/cutting.
- Ability to communicate effectively with the customer and meet billable hours targets.
- Flexible work schedule.
