Job Overview

The Drifter Rebuild Center Technician is responsible for troubleshooting, teardown, inspection, quoting, repair, testing and maintenance of all aspects of drifters (Drills) rebuilds according to defined specifications.

Key Job Responsibilities

Technical
•    Follows scopes of work and estimate to meet established delivery targets.
•    Inspects tooling and equipment for proper performance.
•    Read and interpret parts, service, and operation manuals. 
•    Rebuild, Repair/Replace defective parts components or systems according to scopes of work.
•    Identifies additional repairs, compiles parts and labor estimates and communicates to Drill Center Planner.
•    Inspect, operate, and test completed products to verify function, machine capabilities, or conformance to customer specifications. 
•    Completes accurate time records, technical reports, failure reports and parts lists.
•    Actively participates in continuous improvement initiatives.
•    Maintains the functioning of all shop equipment and report any problems or substandard condition to the supervisor. 
•    Ensure all Service records are maintained according to standard operating procedures. 
Customer Service
•    Communicate with co-workers and internal customers as needed and between Billings and Columbus Shops.
•    Build sound relationships with the Shop Teams and internal and external customers to ensure smooth operations.  
General
•    Performs other relevant duties as assigned by manager.
Safety and Environment
•    Complies with Komatsu safety policies and applicable government, customer or industry regulations or requirements.
•    Report any unsafe work condition, workplace incident or near miss.
•    Maintains hand tools and equipment to ensure safe operation.
•    Maintains orderly workshop and ensures housekeeping requirements are met.
Personal Leadership
•    Ensures that all activities are carried out in accordance with Company Values and Company Policies and Procedures.
•    Undertakes self-training and development as required. 
•    Actively participates in continuous improvement initiatives.
•    Stays current with industry, customer, product developments and technical best practices.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Associates Degree for Heavy Equipment
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in mechanical trade
  • Mechanical technician or Heavy Equipment Tech certification is preferred
  • Previous experience in hard rock drilling applications and equipment is preferred
  • Experience with the safe use of forklifts, cranes, and test equipment
  • Posess a solid understanding of mechanic equipment and tools
  • Strong hydraulic and electrical knowledge is essential
  • Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various goods and services
  • Knowledge of quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to read blueprints, drawings, schematics
  • Good communication skills to work with multi-dimensional team
  • Willingness to learn
