Job Overview
We have an exciting opportunity for a National Distribution Manager at our Distribution Centre based at Minto. This senior leadership position, due to the diversity of responsibilities, requires a thorough knowledge of all aspects of distribution and logistics including, freight management, warehousing, receiving, inventory control and materials management. Key Job Responsibilities
- Manage a seamless network of distribution facilities and satellite operations to satisfy needs on a National scale
- Responsible for managing the execution, direction, and coordination of all distribution matters within the organisation; warehousing and logistics.
- Develop facilities layout, manage capacity planning, and support optimization of geographic footprint across the distribution & logistics network with safety, environmental impact, cost and turn around times being carefully considered.
- Oversee methodology and governance ensuring accuracy of inventory – cycle counts, in transit, in process, to/from production and to/from customers and regional partners
- Ensures workplace health and safety requirements are maintained ensuring zero harm.
- Responsible for the safe receipt, storage, retrieval and timely dispatch of goods to support DIFOT to our shop floor and customer base.
- Budget management for the facilities under this positions control. This includes the forecasting of the budget and adherence to the budget for each facility
- Labor relations are to be maintained in an open and cooperative climate to assure continuous uninterrupted operation
- Research, develop and drive continuous improvement and cost savings activities that benefit the organization while expecting continued elevated levels of delivery, quality, and services
- Oversee Logistics, Distribution and Storage related compliance adherence and associated audits.
- Drive strategic sourcing activities for transportation spend contributing to savings opportunities whilst maintaining a structured network allowing optimized routes
- Responsible for managing key performance indicators and utilizing network data to continually drive continuous improvement. This role is required to take the lead in managing and mitigating risk within the logistics network and being the key connection and voice into the wider business
- Manage future workload requirements through effective workforce management, anticipation of future needs & implementing actions to meet needs, and provide clear, consistent and timely communication to workforce relative to goal progress
Qualifications/Requirements
- 3-5yrs exp. In Warehousing, Receiving, Inventory Control, Materials Management and Logistics
- Minimum 3 years exp. in a leadership role
- Degree in Supply Chain, Business Management or related field
- Strong knowledge of Freight Management Warehousing and Material Handling operations
- SAP exp. Preferred
- Excellent communication both written and oral
- Ability to drive and manage change
- Microsoft Office exp. Essential
