Job Overview

Komatsu is looking for a domestic tax analyst to its corporate tax team.  The role will provide an opportunity to obtain a broad-based knowledge in all areas of federal and state tax, while learning about and partnering with the business.  This tax analyst position will be exposed to compliance, planning, accounting, and audit controversies in connection with federal and state income and indirect tax.   The individual will deliver value through continuous process improvement in the tax compliance and reporting area.  

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Actively participate in the quarterly and annual tax provision process including gathering data and documentation to support current expense calculations, maintenance of deferred assets and the payable proof.
  • Key team member in preparing supporting documentation for internal reporting to Japan and external financial reporting.
  • Preparation of tax return workpapers including book to tax calculations and assist in preparation of key tax calculations including R&D credit, foreign-derived intangible income deduction, fixed assets, intercompany transactions, state apportionment, and others, as assigned.
  • Utilization of OneSource software, SAP ERP system and other software systems.
  • Willingness to learn new data analysis tools and implement best-practices in data management and improved process efficiency in support of the tax function. 
  • Support federal and state tax audits by gathering information requests, responding to inquiries, and day to day management of audits.
  • Assist with the preparation of income tax quarterly estimates and extensions calculations.  Work closely with staff and treasury to coordinate payments.
  • Assist with annual reports, business licenses and tax notices.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • 1-3 years of experience with corporate federal and state income taxes.  Public accounting experience a plus.
  • Bachelor’s or advanced degree in accounting or tax preferred.
  • Familiarity with OneSource and SAP ERP software platform or other similar tax software platforms and general Microsoft Office tools.
  • Strong data analytic and software skills required.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with internal and external clients.
  • A team player who adapts quickly and effectively to changing priorities to meet deadlines.
