How you will help us create value together:
As a Manufacturing Engineering Intern, you will be responsible for a range of support activities for the Assembly & Drill departments. The focus of the department is to apply continuous improvement as well as new product development. Activities will include operations support, work instructions, routings, process improvement, and cost out initiatives.
This position will be based onsite at our South Harbor location in Milwaukee’s Harbor District! The target start date for this role is Summer 2025 and has the potential to be extended into the school year. We offer full-time hours during the summer and flexible part-time hours during the academic year.
Key Job Responsibilities
- Create/update assembly work instructions
- Utilize AutoCAD & Solid works composer to improve processes
- Support new product development projects (Drills & Shovels)
- Update/Develop routings for assembly process
- Pursue process improvement ideas and capture cost savings
- Support operations and shop employees (prints, tools, troubleshooting, etc.)
- Apply lean Manufacturing principals for continuous improvements
Qualifications/Requirements
- Pursuing a bachelor’s or advanced degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or similar, from an accredited college or university
- Juniors and rising Seniors preferred level student in good academic standing
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team towards a goal
- Excellent organization and personal time management skills, ability to handle multiple tasks
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Possess effective problem solving and critical thinking skills; ability to be creative and resourceful when needed
- Proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite products (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Interest in or aptitude to learn new product development
- Strong mechanical aptitude
- Drafting/Modeling software understanding
- Previous classroom and/or work experience in Lean Manufacturing principles
