Job Overview
As a Remanufacturing Intern, you will be responsible for a range of support activities for the Service Excellence and the Asset Remarketing Departments. These departments work together to develop and support Komatsu’s global network of Service Centers. These centers support the world’s largest mining customers with around the clock repair, rebuild, and remanufacturing services to keep their mission critical equipment up and running at the highest levels of reliability and safety and at the lowest cost. Activities will include helping review new requests and opportunities to improve component rebuild processes, then being part of the team that develops detailed work instructions and supporting process for the service centers to follow.
This position will be based onsite at our Longview Texas campus. The target start date for this role is Summer 2025 and has potential to be extended into the Fall 2025 school semester. We offer full-time hours during the summer and flexible part-time hours during the academic year
Key Job Responsibilities
Work directly with experienced engineer and operations team in the engineering department, on the shop floor and in labs to observe and document processes and work on various assignments related to process improvement and data analysis
· Create and edit draft versions of component rebuild work instructions, typically based on existing engineering and or service center work instructions or manuals. (as part of a team with frequent interaction with product engineers and service experts)
· Participate in weekly team case review and swarming sessions to evaluate requests coming in from the global service centers.
· Work cases assigned by team, independently or with other team members as appropriate
Qualifications/Requirements
Pursuing a bachelor’s or advanced degree in mechanical, electrical, industrial, or manufacturing engineering, or similar, from an accredited college or university
· Sophomore or Junior level student in good academic standing
· Ability to work independently as well as part of a team towards a goal
· Excellent organization and personal time management skills, ability to handle multiple tasks
· Strong written and verbal communication skills
· Possess effective problem solving and critical thinking skills; ability to be creative and resourceful when needed
· Proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite products (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
Preferred Qualifications:
· Previous classroom and/or work experience in one or more of the following areas: technical writing, technical drawing/CAD, statics
· Interest in or aptitude to learn about careers in the heavy equipment industry
