Job Overview

The Buyer/Planner I position is responsible for supporting Original Equipment (OE) and Aftermarket sales through effective planning and procurement of materials. This role plays a key part in ensuring supplier orders are received on time and meet quality specifications, helping to prevent production delays and maintain workflow efficiency. The Buyer/Planner I works cross-functionally with internal teams and external suppliers to support cost control efforts, resolve supply-related issues, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the supply chain.

This position is based in Milwaukee, WI and follows a hybrid work schedule, with four days onsite and one remote day per week.

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Plan and procure materials in support of OE and Aftermarket production schedules.

  • Issue and manage purchase orders; monitor delivery timelines and expedite as needed.

  • Maintain accurate supplier data including lead times, material master information, and MRP settings.

  • Identify and resolve purchase order and invoice discrepancies (pricing, quantity, shipping).

  • Support supplier development to improve quality, delivery, and total cost of ownership.

  • Coordinate the disposition of rejected parts to minimize downtime and recover costs when applicable.

  • Assist with new product development initiatives and engineering change processes (ERN/ECN).

  • Create reports and provide updates to management as required.

  • Stay informed on industry best practices, purchasing techniques, and business strategies.

  • Contribute to cost control and reduction efforts across the supply chain

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Operations, or Business preferred; Associate’s degree with relevant experience will be considered

  • Up to 3 years of related experience in procurement, planning, or supply chain

  • ERP experience (SAP preferred)

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel and PowerPoint in particular)

  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently

  • Familiarity with engineering drawings and specifications preferred

  • CPIM, CSCP, or CPM certification is a plus

  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 10%, including internationally
