Job Overview

This onsite, hybrid position, is located at Komatsu’s South Harbor location in Milwaukee. The position requires candidates to be familiar with programming languages, techniques, methods, and architectures in order to effectively and efficiently solve complex software issues pertaining to mining equipment.  

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Work effectively with the interface of software and hardware by leveraging knowledge of equipment, theory of operation and functionality in order to achieve an ideal design
  • Apply technical ‘hands-on’ troubleshooting skills if required to aid technicians and other personnel on new designs or equipment.
  • Periodically work with CAD designers to generate engineering prints pertaining to low voltage system design 
  • Research and specify hardware components.
  • Perform, generate, and document software functional tests.
  • Provide technical support for manufacturing and field engineers/technicians.
  • Perform product development activities including designs, interpretations and implementation of customer specifications and documentation requirements. 
  • Provide existing product line support in design activities and/or modification of hardware and software in production.
  • Conduct engineering studies for new concepts.
  • Work directly with engineers in other disciplines to solve challenges.
  • Travel 5%-10% for product development, testing, observation
  • Role and responsibilities can be scaled based on applicant’s experience.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical & Computer Engineering preferred)
  • Knowledge of LabVIEW and/or other programming languages (Python, C++, Java, HTML, CSS)
  • Familiar with Windows and Linux Operating Systems at the tecnhical level (OS manipulation, images, drivers, troubleshooting, etc.)
  • Experience in system integration involving controls programming.
  • Experience Integrating various off-the-shelf hardware into existing hardware and software architectures
  • Experience in various industrial communication protocols (RS232/422/485, TCP/IP, UDP, CANOpen, J1939, etc.)
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft 365 Products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio, Publisher, Outlook, OneNote).
  • Good verbal and written communication skills: ability to communicate with various audiences appropriately in presentations, reports, procedure manuals, technical correspondence, etc.
  • Able to work in a team environment with the ability to effectively voice technical concerns, identify potential issues, and aid in the solution process rather than act soley as an individual contributor
  • Self-starter that possesses a sense of urgency and a passion for success.
  • A strong desire to continue to expand one’s knowledge base as technologies are always evolving.
