Job Overview

Komatsu America Corp. has a internship opportunity for a Mining Engineering college student in Junior or Senior standing. This intern will be positioned in a highly structured learning environment where the candidate can make an important contribution during a targeted 12-week internship. This internship is intended to identify future high potential Komatsu employees. 

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Assist with in-house Komatsu mining and competitor equipment performance studies.  This function can include report generation and presentations in support of sales and marketing efforts.
  • Participate in the development and improvement of Komatsu Mining technical software programs and databases, including tools involving equipment performance, economic analysis, mining methodology, etc.
  • Provide support to Komatsu mining product management efforts including simulation studies, competitive analyses, economic analysis principles, and other related data collection and analysis.
  • Be willing to participate in most aspects of field studies involving equipment application and/or performance analyses.
  • Participation in developing and conducting distributor and customer training exercises and programs.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Education: Must be at least a Junior at an accredited college/university.  A Mining Engineering major is preferred.
  • Experience: Prior experience with work study programs, school or volunteer leadership roles, participated on teams or in clubs, professional organizations, etc. preferred.
  • Soft Skills: Must have good written and verbal communications. Ability to multi-task, manage deadlines and easily adapt to new challenges and business working environment. Strong motivation to make contributions to Komatsu and strong motivation to drive results.
  • PC Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office specifically with Excel, Power Point, etc.
  • Travel: Some travel may be required.
