Job Overview
Komatsu is recruiting for a Capacity Planning Manger for our Longview, Texas Operations facility. Komatsu offers competitive pay, excellent benefits and annual bonus/merit potential.
Key Job Responsibilities
- Provide an executable (or viable) schedule of work in SAP to the manufacturing floor.
- Create production schedules, review and set material coding and lot sizing policies, that balance the competing needs of customer service and manufacturing efficiencies while maintaining inventory levels within the range as set forth through the SIOP and S&OP process.
- Ensure, through cross functional teamwork, that there is optimization of all materials management activities including scheduling, purchasing, inventory control, materials movement, and indirect materials management.
- Has significant input into make/buy/subcontract decisions.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives. Develop and monitor use of KPI’s to measure and improve key elements of the organization such as supporting delivery, lead-time, productivity, and days of inventory objectives, etc.

Additional Information
Manage Resource/Production/Capacity planners as it relates to planning in the machining, heat treat,
sub-assembly, fabrication and paint facilities.
· Provide direction and guidance on how to load facilities and when/what to subcontract and/or re-route.
· Review reports on past due hours to bring up issues where it relates to why hours are increasing or
decreasing. Provide explanations and recommended actions to be taken.
· Review future load/output reports by facility to set loading targets.
· Provide support to the planners on decisions related to subcontract and facility loading.
· Coordinate with subcontract on upcoming overloads in the shop. Develop and implement action plans.
· Attend production meetings and cell meetings
· Identify issues related to past due hours and load. Take actions to correct. Ex. Missing material,
rejections, received incorrect material etc.
· Provide expediting support to internal OE customers. Work together to come up with plans to support
them.
· Attend/delegate meetings as it relates to shortage and completion meetings for OE.
· Participate in, develop, and support “best practice” and uniform process initiatives across Surface
Operations, including Milwaukee and Longview, for planning, forecasting factory load and capacity
controls.
Manage the department and monitor activities.
· Train team members and establish objectives/goals for employees.
· Stimulate growth and development of staff.
· Provide regular performance feedback.
· Delegate assignments to staff. Track and report project status. Adjust plans as needed.
· Maintain morale within department and support operational mission to create/maintain safe work
environment.
· Recruit and select qualified employees.
