Job Overview

Do you have a technical background in the mining industry but are looking for a career step that allows you the flexibility to build business acumen, provides for the variety of customer interaction and creates customer value with world class products, Komatsu Mining has the  ideal position for you. Komatsu Mining, Hard Rock is looking for a Technical Sales Representative, Drilling Retrofits to be ideally located in Ontario, Canada

This position will report to the Technical Sales & Service Manager, Drilling Retrofits and will be responsible to drive the sales of Montabert drifter drilling retrofits services on competitor equipment underground drills.  The position will apply a combination of hands on technique through the performance of retrofits services with our regional distribution partners and support our distribution sales channels in securing drilling reftrofit sales contracts.  The position will also support direct customer retrofit sales in territories without distribution sales coverage.

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Develops sales opportunities for Montabert drifter and Timberock feed system retrofit services within the defined territory or with assigned accounts.
  • Performs drilling conversion services on competitor products. 
  • Supports and trains Komatsu distribution teams with drilling conversions service execution.
  • Participate in technical studies, demonstrations or field tests.
  • Assesses customers’ total potential with Komatsu products. Performs opportunity analysis by customer and site.
  • Acts as key contact for accounts and liaises with appropriate personnel to communicate customer service needs.
  • Provides input to Business Managers to address services improvement.
  • Develops a sales and service account plan for customer accounts within designated territory or specific assigned accounts.
  • Responsible for completion of sales quotations and lost sales reports for defined territory or assigned accounts.
  • Maintains accurate customer records including installed base, key contacts, sales figures, customer project status, etc. using sales system as prescribed by the Company.
  • Responsible for achievement of budgeted sales revenue and margins.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Technical (Engineering/Trades) degree (or two-year college diploma);
  • Five to seven years proven technical repair, operation experience with underground mining drilling products.
  • Strong customer service focus;
  • Strong negotiation and persuasion skills;
  • Self-motivated and high energy with a sense of urgency in job responsibility;
  • Highly developed interpersonal and active listening skills;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to communicate with varying audiences from production workers to customer management;
  • Strong business acumen.
  • Strong computer skills.
  • Highly developed time management and organizational skills;
  • Computer Literacy including MS Office (Excel, Word, Power Point, etc.);
  • Ability to travel frequently;
  • Ability to work underground;
