Job Overview
The role will be situated at Sasol Secunda Shondoni Mine and the incumbent will report to the Site Manager.
Responsibilities include providing customer support in areas such as safety, addressing breakdowns, delivering coaching, and striving to attain the lowest cost per ton.
Key Job Responsibilities
Job Specification (not totally inclusive)
- Maintain / repair Joy equipment;
- Conduct daily pre-maintenance and inspections;
- Customer support in terms of safety, breakdowns, coaching and to achieve lowest cost per ton;
- Drive productivity improvement and quality work performance;
- Uphold safety standards and good housekeeping;
- Conduct frequent needs analysis within Mine sections to identify gaps and opportunities for optimization;
- Travel between Mines for maintenance / repairs;
- Provide technical support to other Field Service Technicians and Customer;
- Write clear reports.
Qualifications/Requirements
Minimum Skills and experience required
- Grade 12 / N3;
- Fully qualified Millwright with Flameproof and Gas Testing certificates;
- Joy relevant courses will be an advantage;
- Must be computer and database literate (MS Office package)
- Minimum of 05 years’ experience on underground equipment;
- JNA I and JNA II and VFD experience is crucial;
- DC & AC shuttle cars experience will be an advantage;
- Faceboss 2 experience will be an advantage;
- High level knowledge and experience of Joy and Stamler equipment and Fletcher;
- Experience in workshop assembly and manufacturing techniques will be beneficial;
- Must have own reliable transport and valid driver’s license;
- Must be willing to work FULCO shifts, standby’s and abnormal hours at times;
- Must be available outside normal working hours as and when required;
- Must be willing to travel long distances where applicable (Surface and Underground);

- Ability to communicate with top level people (Engineers, Shaft Management, etc.);
- Self-motivated individual;
- Willing and able to work alone and in teams;
- Must be residing or willing to relocate to Secunda, Trichardt or Evander.
