Job Overview

The Operations Manager is an integral part of the Komatsu Forklift Retail Operations team and will report directly to the Senior Manager, Forklift Retail Operations.  The Operations Manager will directly lead and manage the activities of service, parts, and administrative teams. Also, The Operations Manager will assist the activities of sales and rental.  Main responsibilities are to ensure the branch is run profitably, efficiently and in accordance with the targets and budget expectations.  Operations Manager is responsible for ensuring the adherence to Komatsu Environmental, Health & Safety policies. They will promote a stable and enthusiastic team environment within the branch which is in line with our corporate values and guidelines.

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Ensure effort to achieve zero harm and zero LTI’s
  • Acquire and keep up to date knowledge of EHS
  • Ensure all employees follow and comply with the Komatsu EHS Policy and Cardinal Safety Rules
  • Directly lead and manage the service, parts, and administration teams
  • Assist sales and rental business
  • P&L management of the branch
  • Ensure that all policy and procedures are followed in the branch
  • Maintain current customer base and grow factory store volumes by establishing new customers through aftermarket business (Parts, Service and Rental).
  • Grow our external service and parts sales in both revenue & profit.
  • Develop strategies and work within the branch to ensure we achieve a branch rental utilization more than 90%.
  • Control the budget and management of OVC and Capacity Cost
  • Evaluate, coach, train current staff and form a successful management team.
  • Motivate team to meet profit goals and clearly communicate goals.
  • Work closely with the Corporate Asset Controller and Corporate Operations Manager to ensure that the strategies and actions are followed and completed in the Branch.
  • Ensure PM programs are maintained and completed with goal of 90% or higher 
  • Ensure all reporting, WIP management, customer invoicing, payroll, and any other necessary information is completed timely.
  • Monitor daily progress (billing) of the team and branch toward successful outcomes

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, or equivalent experience in the forklift industry
  • 5-10 years related work experience / Supervisory Experience in business management or service operations.
  • Previous experience in equipment retail dealership will be viewed as added strength.
  • 5 or more years experience in managing full P&L for $10M+ in sales business.
  • Requires strong financial, analytical, and communication skills as well as strong aptitude for metrics reporting and analysis.  Ability to distill complicated information into meaningful analysis required.
  • Good leadership, communication, and organization skills.  Experience communicating at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong critical thinking and intuitive problem-solving approach. Constructive professional skepticism and inquisitiveness. Continuous improvement mindset.
  • Ability to establish, build and maintain relationships with individuals at all levels of the organization.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft applications including but not limited to Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.  Ability to interface and work with HRIS systems.
  • Project Management experience.
  • Ability to travel up to 30% of the time.
