Job Overview

As a Lube Technician at Komatsu, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the timely and effective repairs of machine components within our shop. Your expertise will contribute significantly to maintaining the performance and reliability of equipment utilized in various operations.

Key Expectations:

  • Achieve and maintain an annual repair efficiency of 85%, ensuring high-quality service.
  • Minimize rework hours to less than 3% of hours billed, reflecting efficiency and precision in all undertakings.
  • Comply with standard repair times according to Komatsu Equipment Company (KEC) job codes, which are outlined in our PFW systems.
  • Consistently meet all company balanced scorecard goals, contributing to the overall operational success.
  • Excelling in the Technician Competency Matrix, scoring between 4 and 6 in both Technical and Soft Skills sections.
  • Maintain a minimum safety score of 7, emphasizing the importance of a safe working environment.

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Execute assigned jobs efficiently, adhering to flat rate times and re-do metrics to enhance service delivery.
  • Prioritize safety by observing all KEC and customer safety policies and procedures during operations.
  • Accurately complete all necessary paperwork and manage databases integral to job performance, including work orders and parts orders.
  • Adhere strictly to contamination control and HAZMAT regulations to ensure a safe work environment.
  • Skillfully remove, install, disassemble, and assemble parts, testing and adjusting assemblies with minimal oversight.
  • Provide detailed and accurate quotes and pricing estimates for customers, fostering transparency and trust.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues, offering informed recommendations for effective repairs.
  • Test and confirm the proper operation of all repairs and adjustments carried out on the equipment.
  • Apply general failure analysis techniques to assist in precise diagnostics, ensuring quality outcomes.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • A high school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) is required.
  • Preferred qualifications include an Associate Degree in Diesel Technology or a related field.
  • At least 2 years of relevant experience and/or training is necessary; combinations of education and experience will be considered.
  • Ability to work various schedules, including shift work, as operational needs arise.

 

Additional Information

Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations:
  • Certification to operate a forklift and/or manlift is required.
  • Completion of a DOT physical may be necessary.
  • MSHA certification is mandatory.
  • Respirator certification might also be required based on specific tasks.
Tooling:

Candidates should possess a basic set of mechanic's tools that adhere to the minimum standards defined by the Komatsu Equipment Company technician tool list.

Work Environment:
  • Exposure to moving mechanical parts and potentially hazardous chemicals is a regular occurrence.
  • Frequent encounters with humid conditions, heights, and dust or airborne particulates.
  • Occasional exposure to extreme temperatures, electrical hazards, and vibration.
  • The noise level in the work area is typically moderate.
