Job Overview

 

Reports to: Manager, Project Planning & Scheduling (NSG)

Shift: Multiple shifts

Location: home office located in Edmonton, AB, but work is project-based across Canada

Candidates from Western Canada preferred (BC, Alberta, Saskatchewan)

Relocation: No

Travel: 100%

Our National Service Group (NSG) is a project-based team that travels across Canada completing large equipment assemblies for a variety of mining clients. Projects have a typical duration of 3-4 months. During this time, the NSG works long shifts and can be remote for 3-4 weeks at a time. When there is downtime between projects, the NSG will support other regions across Canada with maintenance work. The successful candidate of this role will be comfortable with the sporadic nature of this business and be able to adapt to changing environments and work processes.

Responsibilities

 

  • Read and interpret drawings, blueprints, schematics, and electrical code specifications to determine layout of industrial electrical equipment installations.
  • Read and interpret electrical drawings to wire/repair electrical systems.
  • Test electrical and electronic equipment and components for continuity, current, voltage and resistance.
  • Maintain, repair, test and install electrical motors, generators, alternators, industrial storage batteries and hydraulic and pneumatic electrical control systems.
  • Install, maintain, and repair industrial, electrical and electronic control systems and other related devices. 
  • Conduct preventative maintenance programs and keep applicable records.
  • Assure quality control is maintained as per quality requirements.
  • Work with multiple supervisors from varying trades as well as work closely with other trades.
  • Follow all safety rules and wear PPE at all times.
  • Follow on call schedule as required.
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

 

  • Red Seal Journeyperson Electrician Certificate

  • 4 to 8 years industrial electrical experience.

  • Basic skills and knowledge of PLC controls and wiring.

  • Strong understanding of electrical theory.

  • Understanding of power wiring specific to rig installations.

  • Ability to troubleshoot and make decisions.

  • Strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Experience in a customer facing role and a sound understanding of the importance of customer relationships.

  • Must be able to work with minimal supervision but also participate in the work of other craft and apprentices within the field environment.

  • Able to meet all physical requirements.

  • Expected to climb and work at heights and in confined spaces (may exceed 200 ft).

  • Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions.

  • Able to work overtime, nights, and weekends as required by the project.

  • Observe and comply with all safety and project rules.

  • Ability to travel interprovincially during shift rotation and work in remote locations (100%).

  • Must have no restrictions for access to any mine site across Canada and the US.
