Job Overview

Are you an experienced EHS professional with a background in heavy manufacturing? Komatsu are looking for the right person to support our large workforce in Moss Vale NSW where we  repair Joy Mining Long Walls, Shuttle Cars, Continuous miners and associated componentry. The role also supports our Australian Distribution Centre based in Minto and the field service team in the southern region. The role is based in Moss Vale and is split 90% in Moss Vale, 10% Minto.

Moss Vale is a large modern repair facility with over 280 permanent employees, field service and the ADC have an additional 90 employees all with a good safety culture and committed leaders.

Reporting to the National EHS Manager you will work within the National and Global Safety management framework. You are empowered to drive continuous EHS improvement and develop and execute strategic, globally aligned EHS plans with your stakeholders. Working closely with the Moss Vale Operations Manager, Head of Supply Minto, the Regional Service manager, and their teams. Developing strong working relationships is essential to Safety success.

This is a hands on, face to face role. You will be required to invest significant time with worksite trades people, site managers, supervisors, and leading hands, supporting, influencing, and coaching them in discharging their EHS duties.

You will have a work history with strength in one or more of the following areas, mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and or fabrication trades. Your skills in working with people, influencing coaching, and mentoring all levels is excellent and will be evidenced by recent examples of how you have significantly improved site safety practices and culture.

Key Job Responsibilities

Minimum qualifications/experience for this role:

  • Five years practical experience in a comparable EHS role
  • TAFE Diploma or higher in Environmental Health and Safety,
  • Certificate IV Workplace Assessment & Training (desirable)
  • Rehabilitation and Return to Work Coordinator
  • Incident Investigation qualification – ICAM preferred.
  • Risk management qualifications

Qualifications/Requirements

Demonstrated practical experience in:

  • Knowledge of manufacturing/repair trades, transport, load shift and storage.
  • Experience working with high mobile plant traffic pedestrian interaction, bridge/gantry cranes and rigging
  • Practical hands-on solutions
  • Demonstrated influencing and conflict resolution skills
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities
  • Must be well organised and have good time management skills with strengths in excel, word, reporting and data analytics, with strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be able to think and act in a flexible manner  
  • Understanding of lean manufacturing principles is desirable
