Job Overview

Komatsu is looking for an experienced electrical engineer interested in the field of electrification and the design of hybrid-electric vehicles. The ideal candidate would be familiar with motor control algorithms and the modeling of electric motors and power electronic drive systems. This is an on-site position in Longview, Texas.

This position requires candidates to be familiar with programming language, techniques, methods, and architectures in order to effectively and efficiently solve complex software issues pertaining to mining equipment.  A qualified candidate should also be able to work in a team environment with the ability to effectively voice technical concerns, identify potential issues, and aid in the solution process rather than just act as a sole individual contributor.  The position requires the ability to effectively interface software and hardware by leveraging knowledge of equipment theory of operation and functionality in order to achieve an ideal design. In addition, the candidate should be able to apply technical ‘hands-on’ troubleshooting skills if required to aid technicians and other personnel on new designs or equipment. Additionally, periodically working with CAD designers to generate engineering prints pertaining to low voltage system design will be required.

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Design circuits, generate schematics, and design circuit board layouts
  • Research and specify components
  • Generate Bills of Materials and assemblies
  • Perform and generate software functional tests
  • Documents tests for engineering
  • Provides technical support for manufacturing
  • Assists drafters in developing and designing new products along with continual improvement
  • Performs product development activities including designs, interpretations and implementation of customer specifications and documentation requirements
  • Provides existing product line support in design activities and/or modification of hardware in production
  • Conducts engineering studies and assign work to drafters
  • Plans the manufacturing, installation, operation, and maintenance of electrical designs
  • Works directly with engineers in other disciplines to augment production size and value

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering required
  • 3-7 years applicable experience
  • Simulink experience; LabVIEW or other programming language
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public
  • Detail oriented
  • Familiar with graphical programming languages (LabVIEW, Simulink) and concepts
  • Familiar embedded firmware design and concepts
  • Familiar with Control Area Networks (CAN)
  • Familiarity with SAP
  • Possess a sense of urgency and passion for success
  • Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills in order to manage multiple projects
