Job Overview

Perform visual weld inspections on OE fabrications and remanufactured product (Marking accordingly with chalk), use weld gauges to check appropriate welds, and monitor proper pre heating of components. This position will also have responsibility for NDT testing OE fabrications as well as some remanufactured items and all weld on lifting lugs. Having the appropriate personality and team skills will be a must as this position will be working with other departments to ensure that the highest quality standards are being met and adhered to. Organization skills are also a must as the documentation associated with this position will need to be filled out accordingly and with high accuracy.

Must certify in all position mig welding as outlined in ISO 9001 welding qualification. Must have a basic understanding of metal properties and be able to set up and efficiently operate a wide range of welding craft equipment. Interpret blueprints, customer provided sketches and drawings and apply this knowledge to the product.

Key Job Responsibilities

  1. “weld up bore”, etc.)
  2. Perform final inspection on all repaired parts after the machining operation.  Verify dimensions and tolerance prior to breaking mill or lathe set-up.
  3. Inspect weld on all jobs prior to machine set up
  4. Work with other departments on quality problems.  Refer questionable cases to Machine Shop Supervisor for decisions.
  5. Perform daily housekeeping as required.
  6. Perform other related duties within the department. 
  7. Observe all safety rules.
  8. Operate CMM for inspection.
  9. Order replacement parts as needed.
  10. Cross functional work force.

Qualifications/Requirements

Trade school or comparable work experience in a Fabrications / Welding environment.

 

Five years’ experience in Fabrications / Welding environment;

Must certify in all position mig welding as outlined in ISO 9001 welding qualification. Must have a basic understanding of metal properties and be able to set up and efficiently operate a wide range of welding craft equipment. Interpret blueprints, customer provided sketches and drawings and apply this knowledge to the product.
