Job Overview

We have a newly created opportunity for a Sr. Azure Cloud Application Solution Architect to join our IT team. This role could be located at our corporate offices in Milwaukee, WI or Chicago, IL (Near O’Hare). In this role you will lead IT architecture and design of major systems and key functions. 

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Development of Architecture policies, standards best practices and governance model to ensure alignment with standards.
  • Develop and own governance of Application Architecture for Distributor and Customer facing systems
  • Aids in application infrastructure decisions
  • Create, train and govern development standards and approaches
  • Mentor internal and 3rd party developers in development best practices
  • Champions good coding practices and use of industry standard tools such MS DevOps, Google Analytics, PowerBI, PowerApps, etc.
  • Technical client interaction to support new initiatives and existing applications
  • Performs Level 3 support when needed
  • Support Application Development teams in root cause analysis and resolution as needed
  • Assist with the delivery of cloud-based application architectures and development
  • Consult with development teams on operational and productivity improvement opportunities
  • Stay current on the latest trends and emerging cloud technologies
  • Provide documentation and deliverables on key initiatives as needed.


  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field
  • 5+ years of experience architecting, designing, and developing high performance RESTful APIs and web applications in service-oriented architectures
  • MCSE in Azure, or another Azure certification
  • Deep understanding of cloud technologies (focused on Microsoft Azure) and architecture concepts
  • General understanding of Microservices, such as Docker, Kubernetes
  • Understanding of firewalls, NAT and packet filtering
  • Working knowledge of IP networking, VPN's, DNS, and load balancing
  • Knowledge of other scripting languages like Bash, and working knowledge of Python
  • General understanding of CMS applications, .Net Framework and/or .Net Core Strong desire to learn new technologies
  • Experience mentoring developers, establishing best practices, and setting design and development standards
  • Configuration and maintenance of common applications and protocols
  • Business Development experience
  • Experience with proposal support and technical writing. Experience leading discussions around complex solution design trade-offs and drive conflict resolution
  • Understanding of Cloud computing concepts
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Azure services in a variety of products/services
  • Automating continuous integration build and release pipelines for enterprise scale applications
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
